Fighting Team

Fighting Team Sparring The Primary objective of the Fighting Team is to mold and train students into champions at state and national level Taekwondo tournaments. With its inclusion as an official sport in the Olympics, Taekwondo is one of the fastest rising sport in the United States.

Fighting Team Sparring Fighting Team members will undergo intensive and rigorous training in Poomse (forms), Kyoroogi (sparring), or both. Training sessions will focus on developing confidence, timing, speed, power, and flexibility.

Sessions will be held every Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Schedule permitting, a session may be added during the week.

Fighting Team Terms and Conditions

1. Qualifications.

Green belt and higher only.

2. Fees.

Initiation fee:

There will be an initiation fee of $15.00, which will cover the cost of the Fighting Team t-shirt. Additional shirts are available for purchase at the same price. Team t-shirts and apparel are exclusively available to Fighting Team members and their immediate family only.

Monthly fee:

Members must pay a monthly fee of $35.00. This fee is payable on a monthly basis, or $240.00 annually. Payments must be made directly to Yin's Taekwondo. Membership may be canceled at any time. Refunds will not be issued for missed classes.

The monthly fee will include the following:

  • Special Saturday sessions. Extra sessions that may be opened by the coaching staff are included. No credit or make-up sessions will be granted for any sessions that are missed by the member. Due to the tight schedule of the classes, sessions that will be lost as a result of school activities or long holiday weekends will not be made up.
  • Coaching and/or professional fees for any tournament at the local and state level.

Note:

If any member wishes to compete outside of the state, he/she is responsible for the expenses and professional fee(s) of the coach(es). Total expenses and fees will be divided equally among the participants.

3. Attendance.

Attendance will be strictly monitored. Members must attend all training sessions to ensure the safety of the Member during competitions and maintain the competitive level of the Member. The required sessions are Saturdays and any additional day(s) that may be allotted for training.

The minimum requirement for attendance is six (6) training sessions in a one-month period. Failure to meet this requirement may disqualify the member from competing in a tournament. If a member misses three (3) consecutive training sessions in a two-month period, a verbal warning will be given. Membership will be placed on "hold" if the offense is repeated after the issuance of the verbal warning for a period of one month. These measures are necessary to ensure safety and quality. The member will not be charged for the monthly fee(s) while his or her membership is on "hold".

4. Leave of Absence (LOA).

Members may take a leave of absence from the team. Members must notify the coaching staff in advance. Members are not required to pay the monthly fee during an official LOA. No credit will be given for any sessions that the member will miss once the monthly fee has been paid. Monthly fee(s) must be paid when the member resumes training with the team.

5. Tournaments.

Members must compete in at LEAST two (2) tournaments in one season. To compete in any tournament, members must actively participate in the Fighting Team for a minimum of two (2) months prior to the tournament. Members must also complete a minimum of twelve (12) sessions within the two-month period.

In the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie, members must still attend the tournament even if he or she is not competing.

Note:

Tournaments are selected by the coaching staff based on their organizational quality and the level of competition.

6. Attire.

Members must purchase and wear attire specially made for the Fighting Team.

  • Special dobok (uniform)
  • Warm-up suit

7. Safety Gear.

Members must wear all safety gear during sparring sessions. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Head guard
  • Chest guard
  • Forearm guard
  • Sparring gloves
  • Shin/Instep guard
  • Mouth piece
  • Groin guard
  • Knee pads

8. Conduct.

In the spirit of teamwork, members and his or her parent(s) or guardian(s) must conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike demeanor at all time. Besides the coaching staff, only designated individuals will be allowed to coach in the school or at any tournament. Membership may be placed on "hold" if a member and anyone in his or her party fails to comply.
